The Producer

Basha Bekele is a farmer, processor and exporter based in Bensa, Sidama. He grows coffee on 12 hectares of semi-forested land and works with neighbouring smallholders through several high-altitude drying stations.

Processing

The ripe coffee cherries are carefully selected, floated to remove defects, and then slowly dried whole on raised beds. During drying, the cherries are regularly turned to ensure even fermentation and prevent unwanted flavours. This controlled natural process develops the coffee’s pronounced sweetness, fruit and floral character while maintaining a clean and balanced expression.
